Landmannalagur - Highlands of Iceland 4K

The video was filmed in an area called Landmannalaugar (translated "Rainbow Mountains"), which is an upland area that's part of the Fjallabak Nature Reserve in the southern part of the island. Known for its geothermal areas and the colors of the lava rock, Landmannalaugar is a popular spot for hiking as well as for Icelandic horseback riding. Accessing the area generally requires a 4WD vehicle as the roads are unpaved.

Landmannalaugar ('People's Pools') - also called Rainbow Mountains is a vast area of stunning and unique beauty in the heart of Iceland's southern Highlands in the Fjallabak Nature Reserve. Landmannalaugar is at the edge of Laugahraun lava field, which was formed in an eruption around the year 1477. It is known for its natural geothermal hot springs and surrounding landscape. Landmannalaugar is a natural phenomenon that never ceases to amaze! The colours in the landscape are simply incredible with lava, sand and stone of all colours and kinds! Summer or winter, Landmannalaugar is one of the most beautiful regions in the country. Its rugged landscape, magnificent colours, bubbling hot springs and clear rivers are prevalent throughout, giving the area its own unique and highly captivating character. This area is accessible only couple of months per year, thus a tour is usually required to reach this place. This video was shot entirely on a day tour with Southcoast Adventure.
