Just three decades old, the Motherland Monument (Rodina Mat) statue is probably the most recognizable landmark in the Ukrainian capital city of Kiev.  Seen in this drone video by new contributor Global Journey, the stainless steel landmark stands 62 meters (203 ft.) on a hill overlooking the right (western) bank of the Dneiper River.  Completed in 1981, the statue commemorates the immense losses suffered by the Soviet Union during World War II.  Since the dissolution of the USSR, it's come to symbolize Ukraine's many millions of WWII losses.
