Kemah, Texas is one of the top getaway spots within Greater Houston. The town lies on the western side of Galveston Bay, due east of Johnson Space Center and about 50 km (around 30 mi.) southeast of downtown Houston. Once a small village and heavily damaged both in the Galveston Hurricane of 1901 and Hurricane Carla in 1961, Kemah now offers a large boardwalk and a plethora of entertainment and dining venues.
