The landmark is called Kašperk Castle, and it's located in the town of Kašperské Hory in the Plzeň Region, which covers much of the southwestern corner of the Czech Republic. The castle was built in the 14th century on the orders of the Holy Roman Emperor (and Bohemian king) Charles IV, mostly as a means to defend the Empire's borders from neighboring Bavaria.
