Itzurun Beach in Zumaia (Basque Country)

Spain's Basque Country is home to one of the geological wonders of the world. Along the Bay of Biscay coast near the town of Zumaia is one of the longest continuous rock formations on earth. The formation runs for about 8 km (around 5 mi.), with Zumaia roughly in the middle. In this drone video by contributor and pilot dronostia, you'll get an aerial view of the Itzurun Beach, which lies on one side of Zumaia. The beach is also home to the San Juan de Gaztelugatxe islet, known to Game of Thrones fans as Dragonstone.

The Itzurun beach is part of one of the most spectacular sections of the Guipuzcoan coastline. Its huge vertical cliffs, limestone walls that reach up to 150 meters of fall, will especially attract the visitor's attention. It is a geological phenomenon called flysch formed for thousands of years by the erosion of the sea. She recently became famous by recording here some scenes from the popular television series, Game of Thrones.
