December 17, 2018 High surf warnings were issued by the National Weather Service from Point Conception, California, north of the L.A. Basin, to the coast of southwestern Washington, highlighting an especially heightened threat to life and property within the surf zone. Much of the coastal Bay Area regions are under a high surf warning as of 9 a.m. Monday morning -- including the Pacifica Pier. The pier and neighboring Beach Boulevard, from Paloma Avenue and Montecito Avenue, are closed indefinitely until surf conditions improve, the city said in a statement Monday. The Moonraker Restaurant at Pacifica's Rockaway Beach was hit by large waves around 4:30 a.m. Monday morning. The waves broke a window, causing significant structural damage to the outside of the building and flooding to one of the restaurant's rooms.
