Hostile Land - Danakil, Ethiopia

The video was filmed at the Danakil Depression, a geological structure formed by the convergence of three major tectonic plates. It's part of the Great Rift Valley, one of the principal geographic features of East Africa.  Located in the northeastern Afar region near the border with Ethiopia, the floor of the Danakil is below sea level and is known as one of the hottest places on Earth.
