You will not find much lush vegetation, except in areas under cultivation. The ground is rocky and dry most of the time, with thin grasses and only a few wild flowers. The alluvial soil looks very unpromising, but is actually very fertile. Roses grow very well in Kabul and elsewhere, even in partial shade, as the light is so strong. Afghanistan is a very mountainous country and the mountains are magnificent and forbidding, marching, range after range, across the landscape, including the famous Hindu Kush, often snow-capped and over much of the country, fully covered by snow in the Winter. Occasionally, a lake, such as Lake Qarga, a reservoir near Kabul, will offer the contrast of deep blue-green water against the surrounding rock faces, bare brown and ochre. In other places, such as Bamyan, in the centre of the country, red sandstone cliffs dominate, the niches where the Giant Buddhas once stood, empty, but evocative. Mountainous country,Mild weather it doesn't go too cold in winter not too hot in summer , not more tall buildings because more chance of earth quakes, just in 30km far from kabul is villages with better weather and more grass.grape, pomegranate,a re fruits that can found anywhere in Kabul. It depends on what you prefer. Afghanistan is a country full of mountains, some deserts, plenty of rivers and sea-side, beautiful weather, amazing dried and fresh fruit, full of history and culture, etc etc; but in an unfortunate security and financial crisis. I, being mad about nature, would describe the country as beautiful. I liked Qargha and the houses there are jaw dropping. I never seen houses like that, I am from the west. The gardens and fruits were excellent. The dried fruits are the finest in the world. The hospitality is out of this world. I was treated to a large dinner by a government official. He did it to honor his guest. I did really feel special and the food was great, in a park in Qargha. Love and respect is everywhere among family members. The people take pride in what they do for living, their occupation. The hair stylist is really an expert at his craft. The mechanic is a real mechanic with incredible skill. The baker is an expert. The restaurant owner meal is incredible.
