Hong Kong is a special administrative region of China. One of the most densely populated places in the world, Hong Kong was a colony of the British Empire until 1997 when the territory was transferred back to China. Since then, it has enjoyed separate governing and economic system until it official transitions over to Chinese rule in 2047. The 2019 Hong Kong protests, that are featured in this drone video by Droneland, started with the opposition of a Fugitive Offenders amendment bill that would have sent Hong Kong’s citizens to mainland China if they were put under arrest.
