Green Peaks-Jastrebac mountain

AIRVŪZ STAFF NOTE : New AirVuz contributor Aleksandar Popovic brings us this excellent drone video from one of the most prominent mountains in the Southeast European country of Serbia. Jastrebac is located near the geographic center of the country. The mountain is actually a massif consisting of several peaks, the tallest of which rises about 4.9k ft. above sea level or around 1.5k m. The mountain actually lies at the confluence of three geologically distinct mountain ranges of the Balkan Peninsula: the Dinaric Alps, the Balkan Mountains, and the Rhodopes.

Jastrebac (Serbian Cyrillic: Јастребац) is a mountain in central Serbia, between cities of Niš, Kruševac and Prokuplje. It consists of two massifs, Great (Veliki) and Small (Mali) Jastrebac. Its highest peak Velika Đulica has an elevation of 1,491 meters above sea level.It is well-forested and presents a popular hiking and mountaineering destination.

Jastrebac is bounded by the rivers of West Morava on the west, Toplica on the south and Rasina on the east. Despite the relatively low height, it is prominent because of the surrounding valleys. It is on the boundary of Dinaric, Balkan and Rhodopes mountain ranges, but cannot be clearly classified into either. The mountain is close to other mountain peaks such as Leskovik (4.4 miles away), and Šiljak Rtanj (6.5 miles away).

Thanks to lack of mass tourism and urbanisation jastrebac is now one of the greenest mountains in the region.Jastrebac has exceptional climatic conditions (year-round sunshine, fresh air currents and an unpolluted environment) and precisely thanks to such a mild climate and diversity of flora and fauna, it offers exceptional opportunities for vacation and hiking. The areas of Jastrebac are attractive for all nature lovers - hikers, scouts, mountain bikers, etc.
