Here is a stunning aerial view of the province of Goa on India's western coast, compliments of contributor bazuzu177.  Goa is India's smallest state and also the most unique in terms of its modern history.  It was the original Portuguese colony in India and it remained part of the Portuguese Empire long after the rest of India became part of the British Raj.  In fact, the colony was not annexed by India until 1961, a decade and a half after India was granted its independence from the British Empire.
