GIGANTIC CASTLE RUIN

Here's a great bird's eye view of an important castle in southwestern Germany, compliments of contributor Marco Cantieni. The semi-ruined landmark is called Hochberg ("High Castle") in reference to its commanding position overlooking a valley near the town of Emmendingen in the state of Baden-Württemberg. The castle sits in the historic borderlands on the Rhine River which have been the scene of countless military conflicts through the ages. It's been in a ruined state since the late 1600's.
