Situated towards the eastern side of the archipelago, Fuertaventura covers a land area of just under 1.7k square km (about 640 square mi.), and has a population of about 75,000. The other-worldly appearance of the island has not gone unnoticed by filmmakers; Fuerteventura was a filming location for the 2018 Star Wars derivative Solo: A Star Wars Story.
