Follow the Flag

I was asked if I would fly my drone for the 'Follow the Flag' event in Pleasant Grove, Utah which was broadcast live with KSL TV. We had three drone pilots, myself included, to capture different perspectives. I was flying towards the flag looking down the canyon towards the city. Once the flag began to unfurl, I started flying forward. Once the flag caught the breeze, I decided to pitch the camera down with the plan to just keep flying forward past the flag. But when the flag perfectly opened up and appeared to be laying flat, I decided to start flying straight up to capture the moment. I then reversed the flight slightly and started flying backwards to keep the flag in frame. For the last shot, I had the drone descending down on the flag and then flying in reserve with the camera pitching up to reveal the scene in the background. We had been informed that the plan was for a military plane to do a fly-over just west of the event. Everyone involved with the live broadcast were on the same page for safety and timing. I was fortunate to capture the plane at a great moment. When the plane came up behind us in the valley, it was so loud that I had to quickly turn by head behind me to make sure of it's proximity.
