BADGES THIS VIDEO HAS EARNED:

FPV flight over Mount Aso, one of the world's largest active volcanic systems in Japan.

Mount Aso is not a single mountain, but a massive volcanic caldera stretching approximately 25 km from north to south. Formed by enormous eruptions tens of thousands of years ago, it remains one of Japan's most active volcanoes and is home to the famous Nakadake Crater. The volcano regularly emits steam, volcanic gases and ash. Visitors and pilots must always be aware of hazards such as toxic sulfur dioxide gas, falling rocks, sudden eruptions and rapidly changing weather conditions. In January 2026, a sightseeing helicopter crashed near the Nakadake crater. Rescue operations were complicated by strong winds, poor visibility and volcanic gases, highlighting the risks of operating near an active volcano.

At the time of filming, access to the Nakadake crater area was restricted due to volcanic activity, although much of the surrounding caldera remained accessible.

Filmed in Aso, Kumamoto, Japan.
