Divided among the key victorious powers at the conclusion of World War II, Berlin was generally regarded as the key flashpoint during the long decades of the Cold War. The US National Security Agency listening post shown in this video was one of the means by which the Western Powers were able to monitor Soviet activity in the region and detect possible pre-emptive strikes on West Berlin.
