Fairy tale castle Sababurg

Talented content creator and pilot seb-depp brings us this excellent aerial view of a "fairy-tale" castle in Western Germany.  It's called Sababurg, and it's located in an upland area in the state of Hesse, near the geographic center of the country.   Originally constructed in the first part of the 14th century, it was reconstructed as a hunting lodge about 150 years later.  The castle was extensively restored beginning in the mid-20th century; it's now the site of a luxury hotel and is a popular wedding venue.

The castle in Germany is better known because of the huge animal park right next to it. But the castle itself is a sight of its own: a true fairytale place. Building started 1334 and the castle was used to guard the nearby place of pilgrimage Gottsbühren (the body of Christ was supposed to be found there 1330!). In later times the castle was used as a base for hunting. Restored in 1957 it now houses a hotel. Later on there's another castle, Burg Stichelnstein, that is much plainer.
