Exploring Turkey: Cappadocia & Beyond

AIRVŪZ STAFF NOTE :

Sidsmith85 used a variety of drones and cameras to create this stunning travel video from Turkey.  The video opens with shots of Lake Tuz, a large salt lake located roughly near the middle of the country.  At 1:04, you'll see the Lake Meke crater lake, a bit to the south of Lake Tuz, followed by the town of Tashkent.  At 2:03, there's a great shot of the castle and city of Alanya, on the Mediterranean coastline. Other highlights include the balloons and "fairy tale" castle rock formations of the Cappadocia region in central Turkey.

BADGES THIS VIDEO HAS EARNED:

For New Year's and my birthday, I decided to go to Turkey—to be closer to the sea. But staying in one place wasn’t an option, so I set out to explore and, of course, capture the breathtaking landscapes along the way. In this video, you'll see the Alanya Fortress, stunning coastal views, and Kings Bay—a small cove with turquoise waters and a natural rock arch. One of the most surreal locations was the salt lake Tuz, where the landscapes and textures look so otherworldly that it’s hard to believe they exist on Earth. I also discovered that Turkey has a lot of volcanic formations, including volcanic cones with striking black terrain. Another incredible spot was Tashkent, a city perched atop a massive rock, resembling scenes straight out of the Himalayas. And, of course, Cappadocia—famous for its breathtaking sunrises and hot air balloons. The most magical moment? Watching dozens of balloons light up the Rose Valley, creating the illusion of a glowing garland scattered around the town of Göreme. But Cappadocia isn’t just about natural beauty. It’s also home to the "Time and Space" sculpture park, created by an Australian artist. Some of these massive structures can only be fully appreciated from above—perfect for DJI Mavic 3. To capture all these locations, I used a combination of DJI Mavic 3, DJI FPV, and my Osmo Action 4 to bring the experience as close to reality as possible. This trip was just the beginning—Turkey is a vast country full of wonders, and I can’t wait to explore even more!
