El Aconcagua
AIRVŪZ STAFF NOTE :
Prepare to be blown away by this spectacular first person view (FPV) drone video from Argentina's mighty El Aconcagua; with an elevation of 7k meters above sea level (23.8k ft.), the great Andes peak is the tallest mountains outside of Asia. Contributor and pilot NDH Cinema shot the footage working on a documentary program. Other than the opening and closing shots (which were filmed with a DJI Mavic Pro 2), the footage was captured with a GoPro Hero 8 mounted to an FPV quad. This video made the FPV Pilots to Watch list in August, 2020.

Aconcagua: Principal Cordillera of the Andes mountain range, Mendoza Province, Argentina. Shot on location as part of the pilot episode for a new documentary series. This is the first ever FPV footage of Aconcagua in general, and the first ever permitted drone footage of Aconcagua's prominence (summit) at 6,960.8 meters (22,837 ft). Opening and closing shots via DJI Mavic 2 Pro, all other footage FPV - GoPro Hero 8. My role within this production was Director of Photography and Drone Pilot (both FPV and DJI Mavic). Our crew and cast spent over a month in country, 2.5 weeks of which were dedicated to the trek, acclimatization, and the climb of Aconcagua. After a brutal 4 days of high winds that stranded us at camp 2, Nido de Cóndores, (5,250m - 17,224ft), we were finally able to climb to camp 3, followed the next day by our summit attempt on February 7th. Luck was with us, the pressure system dropped and we had remarkably clear weather for our summit bid. Reaching the peak within 7 hours, low wind and a clear sky enabled me to fly a number of drone flights from Aconcagua's prominence, the result of which is the closing shot. Equipment: - 2x Shendrones Ichabod Jr HD - GoPro Hero 8 (HyperSmooth only, no ReelSteady) - DJI Mavic 2 Pro/Zoom Music: Glass Animals, Intruxx *All shots executed with permits and permission of the Aconcagua Provincial Park.
