Dutch winter iceskating and ripe with the sound of singing/creaking ice!

AIRVŪZ STAFF NOTE : AirVuz contributor and pilot Het bloklandcoptersteam brings us this excellent drone video from the famously flat countryside of the Netherlands. The wintertime video was filmed over the Alblasserwaard, which is what's known as a polder - basically a stretch of land which has been reclaimed or which is protected from the incursions of the sea with a system of dykes. Located in the province of South Holland, as you'll see the landscape is ideal for ice skating. This video was a Drone Video of the Week Finalist in April, 2021.

Enjoy the century old Dutch tradition of iceskating on the canals and rivers whenever its possible and be inspired by the magistic sound of singing ice! The winter in the Alblasserwaard Holland in his full beauty! Er zijn weinig dingen mooier dan het ijs onder je voeten te horen knarsen, schaatsend op een flinterdun laagje ijs over de boezems op het parcours van de iconische Molentocht door de Alblasserwaard. Daarom liep in februari 2021 gelijk heel Nederland uit toen het even koud genoeg was om een paar dagen te genieten van dit oer-Hollandse fenomeen. Wij grepen de kans om de winterse taferelen van boven vastteleggen en te combineren met het geluid van het krakende ijs. Geniet van deze montage waarin de schaatsende Alblasserwaard is vastgelegd met tussendoor wat magische shots van de boerendorpjes en polders gehuld in rijp!
