Docklands, Melbourne Skyline - Sunrise Autumn 2023

AIRVŪZ STAFF NOTE : Top contributor Gizmo Drones used a DJI Mavic 3 Classic drone to create this stunning sunrise aerial tour of the Docklands area of Melbourne, Australia. Located just west of the city's CBD, the Docklands was the core of the original Port of Melbourne. With the containerization of freight traffic beginning after World War II, the port facilities were re-located to deeper waters further down the Yarra River. The Docklands then fell into steep decline until being transformed by a massive redevelopment effort beginning in the 1990's.

I hope you enjoy this video of a beautiful Autumn sunrise over the Melbourne and Docklands skyline, Bolte Bridge and Yarra River. I have filmed Docklands many times and I was going to archive the footage, however when I reviewed this flight I decided to upload it as the sunrise looked great to me. So please excuse another video of Docklands 😊

It was filmed with a DJI Mavic 3 Classic in 4K 30FPS 1/60 shutter LOG format and edited in Davinci Resolve. The DJI Mavic 3 in LOG mode struggles to keep detail in low light. which is a bit of a surprise for a 4/3" sensor. Night mode works well but in my opinion LOG mode should perform better for users looking to film 10 bit LOG video during golden hour.

FYI Docklands was originally a marsh or lagoon and was developed to become Melbourne's waterfront city.
