The Danube river flows into the Black Sea in Eastern Europe forming the Danube Delta, a nature reserve area which spans on more than 4,152 km2 (1,603 sq mi). It is a paradise for birdwatching as more than 300 species of birds can be found here throughout the year and over 3400 animal species were observed. Considered one of the very few wild areas remaining in Europe , the Danube Delta is a fragile ecosystem under anthropic pressure , demanding constant environmental protection.
