Charles Fort, Kinsale, West Cork, Ireland
AIRVŪZ STAFF NOTE :
As more effective artillery emerged in Early Modern Europe, the old tower-style fortresses became virtually obsolete. Beginning in Italy in the 15th century, bastion-type fortresses began to emerge which were designed to be defendable against the ever-more-powerful cannon. One of the best examples of a bastion-style fortification is the Charles Fortress, which you'll see in this excellent drone video by Mark's Mavic 2. It was built in Kinsale Harbor in County Cork and completed in 1682.

Filmed with my Mavic 2 Pro while on a 4 day break in Kinsale, West Cork. Video is of Charles Fort, in Summer Cove, at Kinsale Harbour. It is a 17th century fort, completed in 1682. It was built on the site of an earlier stronghold called Ringcurran Castle, which featured in the Siege of Kinsale in 1601. A great location for an aerial video, and a great place to visit. Kinsale is a beautiful town with an interesting history. Enjoy the video.
