The Portuguese capital city of Lisbon is closely tied to the city of Almada, which sits on the far (south) side of the River Tagus, over the 25 de Abril Bridge. The south bank city which lies closest to Lisbon by boat though is actually Cacilhas. This small town occupies the eastern tip of the strip of land which narrows the Tagus before it ends its journey to the Atlantic; it's directly east of Almada.
