Buffavento Castle

Bufavento Castle is a castle in the Besparmak Mountains in Cyprus. Located 950 meters above sea level, the castle has a natural defense system as it is built on the summit of a steep hill with foothills. It is the highest and smallest of the mountain fortresses of St. Hilarion and Kantara.

Since I have been interested in castles since childhood, I wanted to film the highest castle in Cyprus and share it with you.

To give a little historical information, it was known as Lion, Leonton and Leonne by the Byzantines, Bufevent by the French, Buffavento and 'Lioutes' ('Not Afraid of the Winds / Not Bowing to the Winds') by the Italians and generally known as 'Kutsovendis Castle' and 'Queen's Castle'.
