The Blinnenhorn, also known as Corno Cieco, is a majestic mountain located in the Lepontine Alps, on the border between Switzerland and Italy. It rises to an elevation of 3,374 meters (11,070 feet), making it one of the highest peaks in the area.

The mountain stands between the Valais region in Switzerland and the Piedmont region in Italy, offering breathtaking panoramic views over glaciers, alpine valleys, and surrounding summits. On the Swiss side, the Blinnenhorn is part of the Binntal Landscape Park, a protected natural area known for its rich biodiversity and unique geological formations.

The ascent to the Blinnenhorn is a popular alpine hiking and mountaineering route, suitable for experienced hikers. The most common approach is from the Hohsand Glacier, which leads to the summit through a mix of snowfields and rocky terrain. From the top, climbers can admire stunning views of the Finsteraarhorn, the Monte Rosa Massif, and other iconic peaks of the Alps.

Its name, “Corno Cieco” in Italian and “Blinnenhorn” in German, is often interpreted as “blind horn,” though the origin of this name is uncertain. Today, the mountain remains a symbol of untouched alpine beauty and a favorite destination for adventurers seeking a quieter, less crowded summit experience.
