The Castle of Berlanga de Duero is located in its namesake town in Soria, the easternmost of the nine provinces which make up the Castile and León region of west-central Spain. Built atop a 10th century Muslim fortress, the castle's location was important during the centuries-long struggle between Christianity and Islam for control of the Iberian Peninsula.

Berlanga de Duero is a small town in the province of Soria in Castilla-La Mancha, Spain. The castle was built during the Arab conquest of the Iberian Peninsula and, after the Reconquest, passed to the royal family and the Dukes of Frías who rebuilt it, along with the Palace, the latter of which was destroyed by the French. During the Middle Ages it was on the dividing line between Moors and Christians and Castilians and Aragonese formed by the castles of Gormáz, Osma, San Esteban and Atienza, all of them conquered several times by both armies.
