Drone Racing and FPV Freestyle are some of the fastest growing sports on the planet. Meet the men and women behind the goggles who are changing the way we see our planet. Christian Petersen, aka FPV Provo, has checked off a list on many pilot’s bucket lists: he has a trick named after him. However, it definitely hasn’t gone to his head.
He says flying isn’t necessarily a spiritual thing for him, it’s just fun and it shouldn’t come as a shock that Christian doesn’t see flying as something deeper than “just fun.” The man developed a technique where you crash on purpose. “Provo-ing” is when you crash into something intentionally, then get back up and fly away. He says he was flying with the Atlanta crew during last year’s F3 Expo when Mr. Steele challenge everyone to try it out. Being the only one who did it “kind of” successfully inspired him to practice it and make it his baby.
Provo, Utah is known to be a beautiful city, and it’s a fantastic place to fly. Christian lives there with his wife and 2 kids, who he says aren’t that into flying. He knows that someday he will have to pick either FPV Freestyle or Drone Racing, but for now he enjoys both too much to choose. Thanks for hanging out with us, Christian!
