Bagram Airfield Aerial View - Afghanistan

AIRVŪZ STAFF NOTE :

Bagram Airfield served as the USA's largest military base in Afganistan prior to American withdrawal from the country in 2021.  It's located in the province of Parwan in the eastern part of the country, about an hour's drive north of the capital city of Kabul.  In this excellent drone video by AirVuz contributor Jamil Yosufi, you'll get an aerial tour of the base and its surroundings, which also played a key role in the Soviet-Afghan War of the 1980's.  The base is now under the full control of the Afghan Ministry of Defense.

Bagram Air Base was formerly the largest U.S. military base in Afghanistan, staffed by the 455th Air Expeditionary Wing of the U.S. Air Force, along with rotating units of the U.S. and coalition forces. It was expanded and modernized by the Americans. There is also a hospital with 50 beds, three operating theatres and a modern dental clinic. Kabul International Airport is located approximately 40 km (25 mi) south of Bagram, connected by two separate roads.

On 15 August 2021, the entire base fell to Taliban rebel forces after the NATO-trained Afghan Army had surrendered. All prisoners at the Parwan Detention Facility were released.
