Ancient Messina // Arcadian Gate

The ancient Greek city of Messene was built beginning in the 4th century BC on the ruins of an older settlement following the overthrow of Spartan overlordship of the rmost of southern Greece.  The city, for which the modern-day region of Messinia is named, is located on the westernmost of the peninsulas which extend southwards from the main peninsula of the Peloponnese.  In this drone video by walkinginhellas, you'll get an aerial tour of the ruins of ancient Messine, including its Arcadian Gate.
