Amboy Crater! What a sight! Located in Amboy, CA, along historic Route 66, this extinct cinder cone is an estimated 79,000 years old and rises 250 ft above the basalt lava plains. It's a nice afternoon hike, about three miles out and back, including the walk around the crater rim. Incredible views of the surrounding lava plains!
