You may have heard about drone billboards as a
form of advertising. One Swiss company is trying
to take that idea to a whole new level.
Aerotain, based in Zurich, Switzerland, recently unveiled a project called Skye Aero. It's a giant sphere inflated by helium but controlled remotely.
Because of Skye Aero's design, its safe enough to fly over crowds. That makes it unique from other drones, which the FAA discourages from flying over people. Skye Aero measures almost ten feet in diameter. Its propellors can be adjusted, allowing the balloon to move in any direction. The motion can also be preprogrammed.
The lightweight aircraft is strong enough to carry a camera for aerial filming. The Skye Aero can also be illuminated from the inside, making it more visually appealing. The outside of Skye Aero can be customized with a logo or a companies name. It has a flight time of more than two hours and is certainly an eye catching attraction.
