Welcome to AirVūz ReVūz, a show dedicated to discovering and discussing the latest drones and drone accessories!
In our very first episode, our professional pilot and host, Mike Welsh of Sky Candy Studios, checks out the R220 drone from VIFLY, an FPV quad that claims to be easy to use, durable and ready to fly right out of the box. Watch his review to see if that’s the case.
If you have a drone or drone gadget you’d like us to review, send us an email, (revuz@airvuz.com). And stay tuned to AirVūz ReVūz for future episodes!

This show's gonna go in-depth on the latest and greatest drones and accessories. Before we get started, a little background on myself. I started flying drones six years ago in the National Guard. From there, I got quadcopter fever, purchased an AR Parrot Drone, and a DJI Phantom Vision+. From there I started a business called Sky Candy Studios, [00:00:30] and I've been operating that ever since. Today we're viewing the VIFLY 220, an FPV drone that claims to be durable, easy to use, and ready to fly right out of the box. So let's open it up and see if that's the case. First of all, we've got the Flysky remote controller. It's pretty light. It's got some nice bells and whistles. A monitor. It looks like we also got [00:01:00] the main drone here. So here's the VIFLY. Really nice, sleek design. We also have ... It comes with a three-cell, 1500 milliamp power battery. We have a charger in here for the battery. GoPro mount, which will come in handy. And some extra props. So first impression's about this [00:01:30] drone is it's a really sleek design. The top here is a PCB board, the bottom is carbon fiber with the middle piece being plastic. It's very compact. I can tell it's already pretty durable. Now that we finished the unboxing and the overview, we're gonna take this thing for a spin and see how it performs. Alright, we're out here at Bryn Mawr Park, and we've got the VIFLY 220. Here we have my warrant officer in the National Guard, [00:02:00] Chief Harry Ballard, and he's an FPV aficionado. He's gonna take it out for a flight and give his perspective on how he thinks this thing performs. Harry Ballard: So we've got the VIFLY 220, it's got 2205 motors with just two blade [inaudible 00:02:15] prop motors, with just three cells, it's capable of four cells according to the website. But today we're just gonna be a pretty tame flight, taking on three cells. Fly it around, not do anything crazy. Just get an overall feel for the aircraft. Are you ready? Mike Welsh: Let's see how this thing performs! Harry Ballard: Let's do it. Mike Welsh: Alright. [00:02:30] Okay let's knock this thing around a little bit and see how tough it [00:03:00] is. Harry Ballard: Definitely! Mike Welsh: Cool. So we just finished the first test flight, and we had some nice crashes, we got some nice flight time in. What's your first impressions about the VIFLY? Harry Ballard: Well, the VIFLY 220 is absolutely [00:03:30] durable. This thing ... We put it through its paces out there, and I would say on three cells, a beginner could handle this aircraft. It's just fine. On four cells, it could turn into a rocket ship. At four cells, I would probably add three-bladed props on here, but other than that, the thing is fantastic and I just can't say enough about the durability of this aircraft. Mike Welsh: Didn't even break a prop! Harry Ballard: Didn't even break a prop. Crashed in the tree, crashed in the bushes, into the ground. Props took the lickin' and kept on tickin'. Mike Welsh: Alright, well let's head back to the studio and give our final thoughts on this thing. [00:04:00] Alright, we're back in the studio, and the overall performance of the drone, we were very impressed with. It was very responsive in its flight. As you can see, it was very durable. It's extremely intuitive as well. What I really like about this is the camera in the front here. It's a wide-angle camera, and it's got the option to swivel, so you can choose your optimum angle. And it's nice and rigid, too. So if you hit something, it's not gonna change its angle. So basically, if you're new to [00:04:30] FPV racing, and you wanna get something that's ready to fly, and really simple to use, this is gonna be the drone for you. And what's really cool about the VIFLY company is they have VIFLY Care, meaning if you crash this thing, you can ship it into them, and they will fix it for free for the first time, which is something you don't find anywhere else. We give this 8.5 out of 10 props, because of how it handled, because of how intuitive it is, and [00:05:00] its durability. Thank you, VIFLY for sending us one of these drones. Be sure to check out their website right here, and pick one of these up for yourself. Send us an email if you want your drone reviewed, and we'll see you next time.
