Welcome to the World of Drones, where the team at AirVūz gets you caught up on all things drone related.

We finally got a look at Amazon Prime’s new delivery drone at the Re: Mars conference in Las Vegas last week.  Amazon showed off the design which features visual, thermal and ultrasonic sensors to detect hazards. The drone is also capable of flying vertically like a helicopter and transitioning to an aerodynamic airplane mode. The company says it plans to launch a delivery service using the drone in the coming months, but has not specified where it will begin.

Want a free drone? IBM is giving away 1500 DJI Tello drones to developers who want to help code, “something amazing.” The giveaway which goes until June 16th was created to empower developers to leverage drone-related code patterns to aid in disaster relief. Check out the video description to enter the giveaway.

Biologists in California have turned to drones to stop tortoise-killing ravens. Since the early 1990s the number of tortoises in the Mojave Desert has plummeted by more than 90 percent, a large factor in that is ravens targeting young tortoises. To fight back, scientists are using drones to access the highly intelligent ravens nests which are hundreds of feet above ground. The scientists then use a relatively humane way of killing the embryo in the ravens eggs.

Planning a road trip this summer? AirVūz is here to help! Our team has curated a collection of drone videos of the top 20 Most Popular Road Trip Routes in the USA according to the Travel Channel. Check out each of the locations in the aerial compilation linked in the description.
