AirVūz News: World of Drones 09/28/20

Published 09/28/2020 08:17

Hi Everyone, I’m Jacob Blaeser with AirVuz, Welcome to World of Drones, your weekly update for everything drone related. Let’s get right to it.
We begin with a drone that could change home security as we know it. Starting next year, Ring, the well known home security company which was recently purchased by Amazon, will be releasing a new way to keep an eye on your home while away. Coined the Always Home Cam, is an autonomous drone will have a docking station where it will charge until one of the security alarms are detected. When tripped, the drone will fly from the dock and to that spot in the house. You will also be alerted on your phone, which is connected to the Always Home Cam, and will be able to view a live feed of the drone during its flight through the house. While it seems like Ring is always finding ways to get creative in home security, this may be their most impressive one yet.

Verizon receives approval from the FAA to fly their drone over wildfires in the pacific northwest. With the approval, Skyward - which is owned by Verizon - received the temporary waiver to fly their Percepto Sparrow drone to assist in inspecting critical infrastructure that allows firefighters and other emergency workers to stay in contact with one another. “We appreciate the FAA’s swift action in granting the waiver, which allows us to deploy a network-connected drone and provide critical services, safely and effectively.” Said Verizon’s chief strategy officer, Rima Qureshi

Here at AirVuz, one of the coolest and most rewarding things we get to do is connect with pilots and members of the drone community from all over the world.  We love sharing other creators' work, and do our best to help out when there are questions or concerns.  And on the FPV side, let me tell ya, that community is like no other.. No matter where these pilots are located around the globe, it seems like one big happy family. Most are willing to help out they can as well. That is in full effect this week as we’ve seen an outpour from the FPV world in efforts to help out Amazing drone pilots - and friends to us here at AirVuz - Nikolay and Carter from FPV Filmz. Last week, Niko and Carter were heading home when they noticed numerous firetrucks right in front of their home. As they got closer they realized it was their home that was engulfed in flames. They lost nearly all of their drones, computers and other electronics, and Carter’s room was completely destroyed. I caught up with Niko and Carter the other day to discuss how their lives and FPV careers have been affected by these unfortunate events. Alright FPV fam  do your thing and let's help however possible. If you would like to help thru their go fund me page, you can find that on their instagram pages or right here in this video’s description.

DOLOMITES Like you never seen | Drone Cinematic by Drone my Life

In arguably one of the most breathtaking locations in the world, content creator Drone My Life captured the Dolomites wonderfully. This production not only includes aerial footage from a mavic 2 pro, but also some FPV content as well. Congrats again to Drone my Life for taking home $250 and this week’s Drone Video of the Week honors. This video is now eligible for the $500 September Drone Video of the Month.

Speaking of that Dolomites production by Drone My Life, you can also catch that video in this week’s Pilots to Watch collection as well. It’s always amazing to see how creative these FPV pilots get, and that was evident once again this past week. Congrats to all of those pilots, whose videos will now be eligible for the FPV Video of the Month.
Now how about some AirVuz After Hours?!? This week, Tyler and I make a long distance phone call, or zoom as it’s called nowadays, to our pal drew.drews who is absolutely living his best FPV life in Shanghai, China. Make sure to catch that episode, and many more on the AirVuz After Hours page!
And while we’re on the topic of amazing pilots and videos, make sure you get your tickets to the 6th Annual New York City Drone Film Festival, which will be held October 24th and 25th, and will be 100% digital. Hope to see u there!
