The Opéra de Lille is a neo-classical opera house that was built from 1907 to 1913 in the northernmost major city of France. In 1903, the original Lille opera house was destroyed in a fire. It was a devastating experience for the French citizens of Lille; it had been designed by local and famed architect Michael Joseph Lequeux in 1785.
