Abandoned temple

For the first time the village of Pereves with the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary was mentioned in the scribal books in 1628. The church at that time was wooden and by 1824 decayed by order, the local landowner Ivan Ivanovich Barykov decided to erect a new stone one for ages, and perpetuate his name in his affairs. By this time the village was a major trading center. Barges on the Pronya river full of grain dispersed throughout Russia ... but the time of troubles came 1917, and life in the village began to fade, and in 1936 the church was closed ... since then the church has been gradually destroyed, although 4 years ago they attempted restoration, but apparently something went wrong and the work stopped. Here stands the once magnificent temple, unique in architecture in the midst of the fields of an endangered village.
