Abandoned missile defence near Moscow
AIRVŪZ STAFF NOTE :
This first person view (FPV) "bando" by AirVuz contributor Incognito is definitely not your typical abandoned factory or hotel site. Rather, it's an old anti-ballistic missile (ABM) installation outside of Moscow, Russia. The A-35 system was built in the 1950's-60's to protect the capital of the erstwhile Soviet Union from a nuclear missile attack by NATO. It was the only such system which was permitted under the 1972 Anti-Ballistic Missile Treaty, which was signed by Soviet leader Leonid Brezhnev and US President Richard Nixon.

The A-35 missile defense system is a missile defense system designed to protect Moscow from attacks by ballistic intercontinental missiles. Development began in 1958. The first interception of the missile was demonstrated on March 4, 1961 at the Sary-Shagan training ground, where the B-1000 missile was able to destroy the attacking missile. For the first time, the development of the system dragged on for 20 years. For each of the two monoblock intercontinental ballistic missiles that were launched in 1978, a modification of the system called the A-35M missile defense was proposed. Ahead, the A-35M missile defense was replaced by the A-135 missile defense. A-35 consisted of: Main Command and Computing Center Radar Danube-3M (Sawed a little more than half) Danube-3U (seems to be in the same condition) 32 missiles A-350R (mine-based) (many sawn) The A-135 Amur missile defense system is a missile defense system in Moscow. In accordance with the agreements on limited missile defense systems adopted between the USSR and the USA. Development began in 1971. Adopted in 1995 (according to other sources - in 1989). The military-technical concept of the A-135 provided [3]: * defeat of warheads of the enemy’s intercontinental ballistic missiles flying at a speed of 6-7 km / s with anti-missiles with nuclear warheads (instead of nuclear-free in the A-35 system); * the use of two echelons of interception of targets: long-range opposition at high altitudes outside the atmosphere and anti-ballistic distance at a distance; * Selection (discrimination) - the detection of ICBM warheads from light false (masking) targets was assigned to firing radars. A nuclear charge rocket has two forms of stem cells. Now all the rails are stolen, there are only fastenings for them.
