AV News: Playing Pokémon GO with Drones!

Pokémon GO is the latest mobile gaming craze sweeping the country. Within the first few weeks that it was released, it has surpassed Tinder in downloads and has more daily active users than Twitter. With all this hype, we knew it wouldn’t take long for someone to work their drone into the game...
A Massachusetts man attempted to play Pokémon GO remotely with the help of his drone. His goal was to duct-tape his phone to his drone so he could freely roam around the Pokémon world. An app called AirDroid allowed him to control his phone’s screen from his computer.
However, the phone hindered the drone’s positioning system, kicking it off GPS mode. He was also confined by his WiFi signal and could only fly within 50 feet of the his router. But...he certainly did not lack ambition!
Do not fear though, a company from the Netherlands has just released a prototype drone specifically meant for playing Pokémon GO. TRNDlabs (trend-labs) claims their Pokédrone is the “solution that delivers the power of catching ‘em all!” They hope to work with Nintendo directly to develop the perfect drone and Pokémon experience. The plan is to have the drone take over your phone’s GPS and camera inputs, both of which are needed for Pokémon GO.
TRNDlabs must’ve realized the potential of a Pokémon-infused drone. They even took a subtle jab at other attempts, saying that they are “serious about the new development that saves you from tying your phone on your dog’s back or taping it to you DJI drone…”
TRNDlabs is working around the clock to make the Pokédrone happen. It is still in development, but you can sign up to be emailed about its availability.
Until then, I guess we’ll just have to play the game how it was meant to be played.
