GOPro has long been a leader in state-of-the-art cameras and they recently took the next step. They officially launched their highly anticipated Karma drone.
The Karma is a quadcopter that has a number of fun add-ons including follow-me mode, built-in touchscreen and a gaming like controller.
"It's not just aerial, it's not just handheld, it's not just wearable or mountable, Karma is all of these things. It's a complete system."
This one-of-a-kind drone can also fold up to fit in its backpack that is included in its $799 price tag.
"The portability of Karma is awesome. The fact that you can fold in the landing gear, you can fold in the arms, you can put the conroller in the case, the aircraft with the stabilizer, the Karma grip, all in that case."
You’ll need a GoPro HERO 4 or 5 to mount onto the the Karma, which will add $200-300 dollars if you don't have one.
What makes this drone unique is its 3-axis removable stabilizer that slides out from the drone and attaches to an included handheld "Grip" for smooth shots on the ground. This handheld grip is mountable with regular accessories, which opens the stabilization features to almost anything you can put a GoPro on.
"This really is more than just a drone. You're able to take the stabilizer right out of the drone, pop it into the hand grip, and take this around with you and get that same fluid shot on the ground."
CEO and Founder Nick Woodman was intentional when he focused on this stabilization feature. This is not just a drone, but rather a “stabilization system."
"Karma has become, in some sense , the ultimate GoPro. The quality of content that our customers will capture with Karma I think is going to change everything, again."
