Some people are reporting fly away problems with their DJI Spark Drones, but is it an issue with the drone itself or user error? DJI is investigating, but this doesn't look to be another Karma situation at this point... --- The DJI Spark is one of the hottest drones on the market, but there have been recent reports that the drone falling out of the sky! Is this something we should be worried about? This looks like a nice leisurely bike ride through an idyllic wheat field… That is until this happens… What you are seeing is a DJI Spark “flyaway” which some users have complained about, along with power failure problems mid flight… DJI has issued a statement saying: “DJI is aware of a small number of reports involving Spark drones that have lost power mid-flight. Flight safety and product reliability are top priorities. Our engineers are thoroughly reviewing each customer case and working to address this matter urgently.” “DJI products are tested for thousands of hours, and the overwhelming number of customers enjoy using our products with minimal disruption.” They then go on to recommend updating the latest firmware, out August 1st 2017, which gives the drone new abilities such as 180-degree panoramic image capturing, new arm gesture recognition to start and stop video recording, and new measures to prevent hackers from circumventing the built in geo-fencing software Before you get deja vu about a potential drone recall like in the case of GoPro’s Karma, consider that although these are currently “hot topics” on the DJI forum the incidents are not as numerous as in the case of GoPro’s Karma drone. The Verge’s Ben Popper notes that a lot of cases may be down to pilot error, 3rd party batteries, and even heat issues. Katie Jackan: "I haven't had any problems with my Spark. I've updated the firmware so hopefully that takes care of any issues! I'm excited to use the new features!" Obviously DJI is taking this very seriously, and we at Air Vuz will keep you updated on any new developments. For now, make sure to update that firmware and hopefully that will take care of the issue. At AirVuz News, I’m Angie Avestruz
