Decked out snowmobiles screaming along a looping, bumping track made of dirt and snow. A track designed to push riders to their limit; soaring over 30ft jumps, whipping around tight corners and pushing the throttle while elbow to elbow with their fellow riders. Did we mention those tricked-out sleds weigh around 450 pounds? Riders, athletes or maniacs, depends on your point of view.
This is Snocross, a sport whose name comes from combining “snowmobile” and “motocross.” It’s rarely, if ever seen from above. Unless you’re taking in part of the Amsoil Championship Series at Canterbury Park. The camera drones AirVūz brought to cover the high flying action captured an aerial view that’s rarely seen; an overhead look at the entire Snocross track. Like GoPro cameras have done in the past, drone footage is giving Snocross fans a new perspective and appreciation for the sport.
