The Drone Racing League

AirVūz couldn't be more proud of Team AirVūz FPV pilot NurkFPV. Why? Because he's raced his way to the top, now claiming the 2018 DRL Allianz World Championship! NurkFPV has been working towards this goal for 3 years, quitting his full-time job in order to practice 10 hours a day so he could be the best in the world. Hear from NurkFPV the day after his title was announced in this AirVūz News story. 

The Drone Racing League released THIS video promoting Season 3 of their worldwide circuit. The season, which airs September 6th on ESPN, will continue to up the ante with intense, mile long courses staged in a plethora of exotic locations. Standouts include the infamous Woodward West BMX and Skateboarding Park in California, the BMW Welt in Munich, Germany, Adventuredome amusement park at Circus Circus in Las Vegas, and the first professional drone race in Saudi Arabia.

Gabriel Kocher, aka Gab707, lives in Quebec, Canada.  He first developed worldwide attention with his FPV videos flying over the Alps of Switzerland, where he lived for a time.  His long-range "mountain surfing" videos got worldwide notice, and he was selected as a pilot for the Drone Racing League for its second and third seasons, which were broadcast on ESPN.  In this episode of Behind the Goggles, you'll hear about his exciting journey to becoming a professional FPV drone pilot.  

If the Drone Racing League is the premiere drone racing league, then Paul Nurkkula (aka NurkFPV) deserves the moniker of the world's best drone racing pilot.  He emerged as the winner in the third season of the DRL's racing championship series, which was broadcast throughout the world on ESPN.  He is also a highly accomplished freestylist, and his "Flight of the Year" took the Best FPV Video honors at the first annual Drone Video Awards.   Get to know him better in this episode of BTG.

Top AirVuz contributor and first person view (FPV) pilot Gav707 can make a credible claim to have invented the genre of cinematic FPV mountain surfing, in which long range FPV gear is used to capture some of the world's most spectacular alpine scenery.  This incredible video is a prime examples of his pioneering work in this area is this piece, which included some very skillful post-production stabilization editing.  This video was picked as the Winner in the Freestyle Flow category at the second annual Drone Video Awards.  

Top first-person view (FPV) pilot and drone racer JohnnyFPV, who travels the world making FPV freestyle videos, created this magnificent video from Mada'in Saleh, an archaeological site in northwestern Saudi Arabia.  With full permission from the requisite authorities, he gives us a unique view of one of the most iconic desert landscapes from the vantage of a quad-mounted GoPro. This was the winning video in the 2nd Annual Drone Video Awards in the Cinematic FPV category and was FPV Video of the Year.

JohnnyFPV is at the pinnacle of the FPV world.  He is a competitive racer, having competed on multiple DRL seasons and enjoying lots of airtime on ESPN.  Where he stands apart though is with his highly cinematic freestyle content.  He has traveled the four corners of the world, making epic videos and helping to create content for TV shows, commercials, and even feature-length movies.  This epic FPV compilation reel earned Johnny FPV  a nomination in the Showreel category at the 6th Annual NYCDFF.

Top AirVuz contributor and first-person view (FPV) pilot Wild Willy FPV does it again in this dynamic FPV video of the Winton Winter Drift Matsuri. Chasing drift cars with an FPV mini-quad looks (almost) easy thanks to the tight shots he's able to grab. That, combined with the ground camera close-ups shot on his Sony A7III makes this a textbook example of how to create a cinematic piece with your quad. This video is a nominee in the second annual Drone Video Awards in the FPV Freestyle Cinematic category.

As the sport of drone racing continues to take off in popularity, Drone Racing League (DRL) offers it's enthusiastic and growing audience the most exciting races and locations, featuring the world's top drone racing pilots, including AirVuz sponsored pilots Nurkfpv, Gab707, and Phluxyfpv (as well as other former DRL racers JohnnyFPV and Wild Willy FPV, who are current AirVuz pilots).  The next season begins later this year, and fans will find the excitement aired on both NBC and Twitter. 

City Museum of St Louis, Missouri is a museum whose exhibits consist largely of repurposed architectural and industrial products. Museum founder Bob Cassilly's voice pops up throughout this mystical piece by top first person view (FPV) pilot nurkfpv who was given rare access to fly his micro drone through the legendary museum. It's a moving, inspiring one you won't want to miss. This video was chosen as the Winner in the Micro Drone Acro Mode category in the second annual Drone Video Awards.

Slide into the DMs can mean sending someone a direct, private message on social media, but this version of the saying means something totally different.  The Brainerd International Raceway in Brainerd, Minnesota, USA, held the “Sliding into the DM Bash 2019,” a drift racing event that included skid pads, donut and figure eight spots, and more. AirVuz FPV Pilot phluxyfpv got the opportunity to take his mini quad out on the track to get tight shots, fly throughs, and tracking shots of the speedy cars.

You know that feeling when you find something you thought was lost forever? That’s how phluxyfpv must have felt when he found the SD card that stored footage he took while ripping through Jesse Perkin’s Tiny Whoop HQ in Colorado at the 2019 Tiny Whoop Invitational. The course, custom built by Mr. Tiny Whoop himself, is like the most epic jungle gym ever built but for a micro quad and makes for a killer backdrop for the resulting video.

Action sports and first person view (FPV) drones is one of the best combinations that this industry has to offer! In this edit by top drone racer and FPV freestyle pilot JohnnyFPV, watch as he follows some of the world's best freestyle skiers at the Audi Nines competition at the Sölden ski resort in Tyrol, Austria.  This amazing FPV film was nominated for the AirVuz Drone Video of the Week Contest in the Spring of 2018 and was our Winner in the Extreme Sports category for the 2nd Annual Drone Video Awards.

AirVūz pilot nurkfpv's most epic flight of 2017 was a winner in the 1st Annual AirVuzDrone Video Awards for the best Freestyle Drone Video, and it continues to pile on the views, comments, and deservedly, the accolades.  Like a train heist you see in a movie, he unexpectedly lands his quad on top of the moving train he's chasing. It's a jaw-dropping fllight you have to see, although you just may find yourself ducking and flinching as his quad makes these bold FPV maneuevers.  This flight has inspired many creative FPV flights.
