Tel-Aviv from the Sky

The Tel Aviv-Jaffo urban area on Israel's Mediterranean shore, the second largest city in the country after Jerusalem (and the center of its largest metropolitan area), is a study in contrasts.  Jaffo is an ancient port city with multiple references in the Bible.  Lying a bit to the north of Jaffa, Tel Aviv is a modern city, founded in 1909 by members of the Zionist Movement.  Contributor Ruslan Paul used a DJI Inspire 2 drone to create an amazing aerial tour of the area, with its strikingly different core cities.

AirVuz contributor moticohen23 used a DJI Mavic Air 2 drone to create this beautiful aerial mini-tour of the Israeli city of Tel-Aviv.  With its gleaming skyscrapers and wide expressways, Tel-Aviv is the commercial capital of this dynamic Middle Eastern country.  Located just north of the ancient port of Jaffa, Tel-Aviv is an infant by the standards of the region: it wasn't founded the early 20th century.  It now boasts two dozen buildings over 120 meters in height (about 400 ft.), with nearly as many under construction as of late 2020.

Contrary to what many believe, Tel-Aviv is actually not Israel's largest city - that title goes to Jerusalem.  It is, however, the center of the largest metropolitan area in the country.  Variously called (and defined as) Greater Tel-Aviv, Tel-Aviv/Jaffa, and Gush Dan, the population of this metropolis  is over 3.5 million by some measures, or about one in two Israelis.  In this amazing drone video by top contributor Ruslan Paul, you'll get an aerial tour of the two cities at the core of the area: Tel-Aviv and ancient Jaffa.  

AirVuz contributor @surf.the.sky brings us this DVOW nominated video of Tel Aviv, Israel during the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020.  In February of that year, Israel's first confirmed novel coronavirus infection was reported at the Sheba Medical Center in Ramat Gan, an eastern suburb of the country's commercial and financial capital.  As the central government and local authorities imposed increasingly stringent social distancing measures beginning in March, the public spaces in and around Tel Aviv appeared in a state of near-abandonment.  

Next to the very modern Israel city of Tel Aviv lies the very ancient city of Jaffa, which is known for its port on the Mediterranean Sea.  The port has been used for over 7,000 years – it is said to have been founded by Japheth, the son of the Biblical character Noah. The ancient port city sits in the shadows of the skyscrapers of Tel Aviv that lie just to its north.  Contributor Shlomi Znati uses a drone to give us an epic bird's eye view of this ancient seaport, which also features prominently in Greek mythology.  

Contributor Shlomi Znati Photograph created this amazing drone video of the impressive skyline of modern Tel Aviv, Israel.  As of year-end 2018, the city is home to over 20 buildings of over 150 meters (just under 500 ft.) in height.  The focus of the video is the three-tower Azrieli Center, the site of the city's first modern skyscrapers.  Its Circular and Triangular Towers were completed in 1999.  The 49-story Circular Tower, the taller of the two, stands 187 meters (about 615 ft.) tall and was the city's tallest building until 2017.  

For a first upload to AirVuz, new contributor moticohen brings us this drone tour of the port city of Jaffa, Israel.  Starting at about the :24 mark, there's a nice shot of the red and white Jaffa Light tower, which dates to 1865.  Then you'll see the Jaffa Clock Tower, the city's most well-known landmark, including a "reveal" looking north toward the skyline of Tel-Aviv, Jaffa's younger neighbor.  Other featured locations include the Jaffa Promenade along the Mediteranean Sea beaches, a Christmas tree in Yossi Carmel Square, and more.

Soak in the rays shining on the Mediterranean coastline of Tel-Aviv, Israel, in this beautiful drone video.  Founded only a little over a century ago, the city was originally a small village just outside of the very old Mediterranean port city of Jaffa.  Now it's the commercial and financial center of the country, and the center of its largest metropolitan area.  The beachfront of Tel-Aviv has been undergoing a construction boom, and it now bears greater resemblance to Miami than to the ancient port to its south.

Check out the skyscrapers of Tel Aviv, Israel in this beautiful nighttime drone video by haron5544.  This ultra-modern city on the Mediterranean is Israel's business and financial capital, and it's home to virtually all of the country's tallest buildings.  One of the highlights is at about the :38 mark; here you'll get a top-down view of the three towers of the Azrieli Center; this complex was completed in 1999.  The circular tower, the tallest of the three, was the country's tallest building from 1999 until 2017.

Check out this beautiful aerial video of a sunrise in Tel-Aviv, Israel, compliments of contributor Moshe Tutian.  Situated roughly in the middle of the country's Mediterranean Sea coastline, Tel Aviv is an ultra-modern city; it bears closer resemblance to Miami than it does to Jerusalem.  Just south of Tel-Aviv is its "sister" city Jaffa, an ancient port which earned repeated mention in the bible.  The video will take you over both cities from the perspective of the coastline, just as the metropolis awakes on a brilliantly sunny day.  

Israel's main commercial center, Tel-Aviv literally didn't exist as a city until the early 20th century.  Now the center of a metropolitan area of over three million, Tel-Aviv is home to two expressions of modernity - urban art and skyscrapers.  The contrast between its graffiti and ultra-modern skyscrapers is brought out beautifully in this drone video by dronturcom.  At about the :10 mark there's a great shot of the 61 story Azrieli Sarona Tower; completed in 2017, it's Israel's tallest building at 238 meters (about 780 ft.).  

Walking around the modern-looking Tel Aviv, Israel, one can forget that this is a very old place - Tel Aviv's southern "suburb" of Jaffo is mentioned repeatedly in the Bible, for example.  In the city's eastern suburbs, you will be reminded when you see the remains of the ancient city of Antiparis here-once the home of Herod the Great, who ruled what was known as Judea on behalf of Rome in the first century BC.  It's part of the Tel Aphek National Park, which you'll see in this drone video by AirWorks.

Jaffa is a very old port city situated to the south of the very new city of Tel Aviv, Israel. Historic Jaffa is known for its part in many biblical stories as well as its famous oranges. First mentioned in an ancient Egyptian letter, scholars believe the port was built around 1800 BC and possibly considerably earlier. Seen in this aerial video by content creator and drone pilot MIAPVIDEOS, the ancient city walls blend seamlessly with the much more modern city of Tel Aviv, which was founded comparatively recently, in 1909.  

Like virtually all Mediterranean cities, Israel's Tel Aviv has an active boating scene.  In this drone video by Moshe Tutian, you'll get a bird's eye view of the city's main marina.  It's located on a small protected harbor west of the city center, just south of the mouth of the Yarkon River which courses through the Israeli commercial and financial capital.  The video also features footage from some of the city's famous beaches (which lie mostly just to the south of the Marina) and other sites from this very modern part of Israel.

Check out this beautiful drone video of the largest amusement park in Israel, compliments of contributor and pilot guydrory.  Superland is located in the city of Rishon LeZion, Israel's fourth largest city, which is considered to be part of Greater Tel Aviv.  The park, which opened in 1991, has two rollercoasters among about a dozen and a half total rides.  It's especially well known for its Skycoaster bungee-jumping attraction, as well as its large (and recently renovated) Ferris Wheel.
