St. Vincent and the Grenadines is an island nation in the Caribbean Sea. It's one of the Windward Islands, a chain within the Lesser Antilles group which includes all of the small Caribbean islands. It consists of the island of St. Vincent plus a portion of the Grenadines, a group of islands situated between St. Vincent and Grenada to the south. It's known for its white sand beaches and a world-class kiteboarding scene, as well as La Soufrière, one of the tallest volcanoes in the Caribbean. For volcano lovers seeking a Caribbean island vacation, the go-to spot is the tiny island of St. Vincent. The primary island of the sovereign nation of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, it's dominated by the Soufrière Saint Vincent volcano. The mountain towers over the northern part of the island, rising to a peak of 1.2k meters (just over 4k ft.) above sea level. The main island in the nation of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Saint Vincent is also known by its native name, Hairouna. Home to about 100k permanent residents, the island measures about 29 km long (around 18 mi.) and is about 18 km at its widest point (around 11 mi.). Saint Vincent's most distinguishing physical feature is the volcano La Soufrière, which rises to a height of about 1.2k meters above sea level (around 4k ft.).
