Contributor otis72@virgilio.it uploaded this marvelous nighttime drone video of Milan's great Cathedral (Duomo) and the adjacent public square (Piazza).  Completed in the early 19th century after more than 500 years of construction, it's the largest church in Italy proper (which excludes Vatican City) and the third-largest in Europe.  Dedicated to the Nativity of Mary, the Duomo was the subject of Mark Twain's classic 1869 travel book, Innocents Abroad; it was later similarly featured in Henry James' travel book Italian Hours (1909)

For an epic tour of the great northern Italian city of Milan, this video by contributor Dronescapes by Atellani is tough to beat.  Shot with a DJI Inspire 2 drone, the video shows how Milan so distinctively blends the old and the new.  The expanse of the old city blends beautifully with modern skyscrapers in the city's financial district that are among the world's most impressive and amongst the tallest in Europe.  Milan is the second largest city in Italy (after Rome) and is the country's business and financial capital.  

Top contributor Volovisione treats us to this epic bird's eye view of Milan's Porto Nuovo business district.  The district was the epicenter from Milan's transition from an industrial powerhouse, the main engine of Italy's post-WWII recovery, to an international financial, design, and technology city.  The video contains spectacular footage of Milan's gleaming skyscrapers, including the magnificent Unicredit Tower, which opened in 2012 and thereby became the tallest structure in the country.

Contributor and drone pilot Dronescapes by Atellani created this amazing aerial video of the Vertical Forest residential towers in the great city of Milan, Italy.  They are situated in the Puerto Nuova District, in the shadow of Milan's famous skyscrapers.  What distinguishes these residential towers is not their height but the fact that they are covered in greenery.  Opened in 2014, each tower has over 900 trees, 5,000 shrubs, and 11,000 plants.  It's a botanists dream in the heart of one of Europe's most dynamic cities.

Top AirVuz contributor Volovisione is one of the top drone piloting companies in Italy.  It's not surprising then that they would be granted permission to fly a drone inside one of the most well known buildings in the city of Milan.  The Teatro alla Scala is the main opera house of Lombardy's capital city.  It was opened in the late 18th century and is considered one of the finest opera houses in the world.  In this video, you'll get a rare look at the inside of this magnificent landmark from its inside.  

Contributor Dronescapes by Atellani used a DJI Inspire 2 drone to create this magnificent aerial view of the Unicredit Tower, the landmark bank headquarters building in Milan, Italy.  Designed by the renowned architect César Pelli, the multi-billion Euro project was completed in 2011.  With an overall height of 230 meters (about 750 ft.), it's the tallest building in Italy.  It's in the Porta Nuova district, an area of the city which has been redeveloped and which is home to many of the city's tallest towers.

Top AirVuz contributor and pilot Electriclife used a Zenmuse X7 camera mounted to a DJI Inspire 2 drone to create this stunning aerial video of Milan, the great northern Italian city.  It opens with an epic shot of the Santa Maria Delle Grazie covent, which is (famously) home to Da Vinci's Last Supper mural.   You'll also get treated to some amazing aerial views of the city's ultra-modern skyscrapers.  Shot on a clear day, you'll also see how this is a city which is nearly surrounded by mountains.

The video captures the city's most iconic historical sights, notably the Duomo, the Vigna di Leonardo da Vinci, and the Piazza Gae Aulenti.  It also captures the city's modern skyscrapers.  At about the 1:05 mark, you'll get an amazing flyover of the Unicredit Tower; at just over 230 meters (just under 360 ft.), the 31 story building became the tallest in Italy when it was completed in 2009.

AirVuz contributor davidegalloni brings us this beautiful sunset drone video of the city of Milan, Italy.  Most of the video was shot over the city's most recognized modern landmark: the Unicredit Tower in the Porta Nuova district.  Designed by César Pelli, the 31 story tower was opened in 2012 and serves as the headquarters of Italy's largest bank by assets.  One of the most expensive office towers ever built, its construction cost an estimated US $7 billion.  Standing 231 meters tall (758 ft.), it's the tallest building in Italy.  

AirVuz contributor and pilot davidegalloni brings us this excellent drone video from the great city of Milan, Italy.  The video opens with a shot looking south towards the Allianz and Generali Towers, Milan's second and third tallest buildings as of 2020.  Then you'll head to the nearby Velodromo Vigorelli stadium, which is mostly used for American football events.  From there, you'll travel west to the Puerto Nuovo area to see the  Unicredit Tower.  Completed in 2012, the César Pelli designed masterpiece is Italy's tallest skyscraper. 

Top AirVuz contributor and pilot Dronescapes by Atellani used a DJI Mavic Pro to create this beautiful wintertime video of video focuses on two of the city's best-known landmarks.  The first is the Duomo di Milano (Milan Cathedral), the spectacular church which is still the beating heart of the city despite having many taller skyscrapers now competing with it.   The second is the glass-domed Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II shopping center.  Opened in 1877, it's the country's oldest active shopping mall.

Top contributor Volovisione created this marvelous drone video of the largest church in Italy.  The Duomo (Cathedral) of Milan is one of the most well-known sites in this magnificent and industrious city, the capital of the Lombardy region and the second largest city in Italy.  Built over six centuries, it's the third largest church in all of Europe and the fourth largest in the world.  The Duomo was finally completed in 1805, and was the venue for Napoleon Bonaparte to declare himself King of Italy.

Top AirVuz content creator druno secured a Drone Video of the Week Finalist spot for this epic FPV video of Italy's great Milan Cathedral.  Dedicated to the Nativity of Mary, construction of the great edifice began in 1386 but wasn't completed until the 1960's - nearly six centuries later.  With a length of 520 ft. (159 m) and a width of just over 300 ft. (about 90 m), it's the largest church in Italy and the second-largest in Europe: only Vatican City's Basilica of St. Peter and Brazil's Basilica of Our Lady of Aparecida are larger.
