Manila is the capital of the Philippines, the giant archipelago nation in Southeast Asia. Situated on the western side of Luzon, the Philippines' most populous island, it is one of the largest and fastest-growing cities of Asia. Located on the eastern side of Manila Bay, on one of the world's finest natural harbors, it's a major seaport and also the country's air transportation hub. One of the largest majority-Catholic cities in the world, Manila is home to some of the continent's largest churches. From the gleaming skyscrapers of Makati to the Old City, here is a collection of the best drone videos from the great city, which was founded by a Spanish explorer in 1571. If you spend 60 seconds watching this drone video of Manila, Philippines by Erin Rushton Media, you'll get a great sense for the look of the city. The country's capital city, which lies on Manila Bay in central Luzon, is one of the world's largest cities. While the city itself is "only" 2 million, it's the center of a metropolitan area of over 20 million. Most of the video is shot around the core downtown area, which has been front and center in Southeast Asia's ongoing skyscraper building boom.

AirVuz contributor Jc Gellidon used a DJI Mavic Pro 3 Cine drone to create this beautiful aerial tour of the City of Makati in the Philippines. Part of Metropolitan Manila, Makati is located southwest of the historic core of Manila, on the isthmus which separates Manila Bay from the lake Laguna de Bay. Makati is the ultra-modern financial capital of the country, and is home to six of the ten tallest buildings in Metropolitan Manila as of 2022. Many embassies and multinational corporation country headquarters are also located here.

New AirVuz contributor totoempainado brings us this stunning yet haunting drone video of the great city of Manila under a near-lockdown during the Covid-19 pandemic in the Spring of 2019. The Philippines capital is the center of a metropolitan area that by some measures is over 20 million in population; it's likely been centuries since it appeared as empty and quiet as it does in the video. With its first Covid-19 case announced in late January, by late April the Philippines had seen over 8,000 confirmed cases and over 500 deaths.

The Philippines is home to one of the world's largest populations of practicing Catholics. It's not surprising then that the Manila Cathedral is one of the top sights on the island of Luzon if not the entire country. The current structure was completed in 1958 on a site that had been used for seven previous cathedrals in the country's capital (and largest) city. It's located in the Intramuros (walled city) of old Manila. In this video, contributor and drone pilot Ventronics captured the beautiful church by drone.

The Makati district of Manila in the Philippines is the capital city's primary financial district. It's located southeast of the city center, on the south bank of the Pasig River. The modern glass skyscrapers of Makati are perhaps the most visible sign of the growth of Manila in recent decades. In this video, contributor JC Gellidon used a Phantom DJI Phantom 4 drone to create an aerial video of this area on New Years' Eve 2018, capturing the amazing effect of fireworks against the outline-lit skyscrapers.
