Top contributor and pilot Styfly | Studio brings us this excellent drone video from the great city of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.  As of 2022, the Southeast Asian metropolis has over 130 buildings above 500 ft. in height (around 150 m), more than any USA city save New York.  Starting at about the 2:09 mark, there are some spectacular shots of the new Merdeka 118 tower; the 118 tower skyscraper has an architectural height of just over 2.2k ft. (about 680 m), making it the world's second-tallest building when it was completed in late 2021.

New contributor nankojogja brings us this rather shocking drone video of the city of Kuala Lumpur at a virtual standstill during the Covid-19 coronavirus epidemic in late March, 2020.  Although Malaysia reported its first confirmed case relatively early (in January, 2020), it had only a handful until early March.  By mid-March, cases had been reported in all territories, and the government instituted a Movement Control Order on March 18 in order to legally enforce social distancing measures to slow the spread of the disease.

Take in these fantastic aerial views of the tallest building in the world under construction as of mid-2020, compliments of AirVuz contributor and pilot Styfly | Studio.  It's called the PNB 118 building, and it's in the Malaysian capital city of Kuala Lumpur.  The 118 story multi-use tower on Petaling Hill is expected to be completed in 2021, following a seven year construction period.  With a roof height of 644 meters (just over 2.1k ft.), it will be the second-tallest skyscraper in the world after Dubai's Burj Khalifa.  

This drone video by contributor and pilot tengkudin focuses on three of the most prominent landmarks of the great city of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.  The first two are really part of a single development: the Petronas Towers.  Designed by famed architect César Pelli, the twin spires were the world's tallest when they were completed in 1998, and they continue to be the world's tallest twin towers.  The third tower featured is the Kuala Lumpur Tower, a communications and observation tower.  

Malaysia is one of the world's largest countries of the Islam faith.  Depending on estimates, it's in the top 20-25 countries in terms of practitioners of the world's largest faith, and that means lots of prominent mosques.  The Federal Territory Mosque lies in the center of Kuala Lumpur.  Completed in 2000, the mosque is an architectural marvel.  In this video, contributor Kakikujalanjalanflies over this magnificent looking building, whose blue spires are now one of the most distinctive sights of KL. 

Kuala Lumpur's Petronas Towers had a 20+ year run as the tallest buildings in the city, including a half-dozen years when they the tallest in the world.  They were displaced by the Exchange 106 Tower, whose reign as the KL height champion will be extremely short.  Why?  Because of the building you'll see in this drone video by fasteddie75.  It's the rapidly rising PNB 118 Tower, a 118 story tower which is rapidly rising towards it design height of 666 meters (just under 2.2k); that's nearly  50% taller than the 106.

The Damansara Heights area is essentially a close-in suburb of the city of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.  While the area initially developed decades ago, a large project is underway which will transform the look of the district with numerous residential skyscrapers, which will be some of the tallest in the Malaysian capital city.  Contributor and pilot Skyfly Studios created a beautiful drone video of this area, which will begin to draw comparisons with central Kuala Lumpur once it is completed.    

The Shah Alam Stadium is situated in the Malaysian state of Selangor, which previously (before an administrative reorganization) also included the city of Kuala Lumpur.  The stadium was built in 1990 and has the capacity to seat a bit over 80k people.    While Shah Alam is primarily used for football (soccer), it serves as the venue for other sports as well.  Contributor Jeremy1975 used a drone to give us a nice aerial tour of this stadium located on the outskirts of the Malaysian capital city.  

Contributor and pilot DroneCult created this epic drone video of some VERY brave individuals BASE jumping from the KL Tower, the communications tower in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.  The tower stands 335 meters (1.1k ft) at the roof level, and with its antennae it's just a bit shorter than the Petronas Towers.  The tower made a cameo appearance in the opening scene of the 2015 blockbuster Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation (2015), the fifth installment of the Mission: Impossible series.

The ascent of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to its current world city status would have been impossible without massive investment in public transportation.  In this video by Kakikujalanjalan, you'll get an aerial glimpse of the KTM Komuter commuter railway, which operates in and around this metropolitan area of nearly 7 million.  The trains carry approximately 40 million passengers per year as of 2018; without them the great city would have seen its growth constricted by traffic congestion.  

FlyingAyam created this remarkable drone video of the Exchange 106 Tower in Kuala Lumpur as it was nearing completion. The 106 story tower is being built in the Tun Razak Exchange district of the Malaysian capital city. Including its crown, the tower has topped out at 492 meters (just over 1.6k ft.), exceeding the height of the twin Petronas Towers to become the tallest building in the city. It's expected that the main tenants of the office building will be large international financial institutions

Jason Son created this amazing drone video of the Exchange 106 tower in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia nearing completion in late 2018.  The tower is part of the Tun Razak Exchange development in the eastern part of the KL central business district.  This massive planned development will eventually include a total of 26 new buildings.  The 106 story tower has an architectural height of stands 492 meters (just over 1.6k ft.), which includes the buildings highly innovative illuminated crown.

In this drone video by top contributor and pilot kakikujalan, you'll see how much the skyline of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia has been transformed by the new Exchange 106 Tower.  The centerpiece of a new financial district in the Malaysian capital city, the construction of the tower commenced in 2016 and was substantially completed by early 2019.  The 106 story tower office tower has over 450k square meters (almost 5 million square ft.) of floor space, and is now the tallest building in the Malaysian capital city.  

Here's some of the most amazing drone footage we've seen of the landmark Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.  While cloudy days aren't great for taking drone video footage, they can create amazing opportunities when the tops of tall buildings sit above the cloud line.  That's exactly what contributor and drone pilot SKYRUN was able to do here, creating a very impressive visual effect.  The Petronas Towers were the tallest in the world from 1998-2004, and they continue to be the world's tallest twin towers.

Large traffic exchanges are perfect for drone-lapses, a technique involving "stitching" thousands of time-sequenced drone still shots together to show how the site being filmed changes over time.  Particularly when filmed at night, the drone-lapses can show the amount of traffic flowing past a given spot.  Case in point is this excellent piece from AirVuz contributor fasteddie75, who put together an amazing drone-lapse sequence from the NPE Pantai Dalam in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Pilot Styfly | STUDIO brings us this video from Kuala Lumpur showing the city before and after the clearing of the haze which sometimes hangs over the metropolis.  You'll see the "with haze" version in the opening pull-out shot from the KL Tower, a communication and observation tower which was completed in 1995.  At 2:20, you'll see a great shot of the city under much clearer air, focusing on the twin Petronas and the just-completed Four Seasons Tower, which lies just a block away from the Twins.  

Mont Kiara is one of the wealthiest neighborhoods in Kuala Lumpur, the great Malaysian metropolis.  The township is located about a 15 minute drive (on the rare occasions with no traffic) from downtown KL.  The area consists of many highrise residential buildings as well as some office and retail projects.  Most of the building projects were undertaken by UEM Sunrise Berhad, a large property developer.  In this excellent drone video by babychaix, you'll get an aerial tour of this impressive urban neighborhood.  

See two of the most stunning towers in the world in this aerial film by minglam: the Exchange 106 and Petronas Twin Towers of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The twin Petronas Twin Towers were the tallest buildings in the world from 1998 to 2004, and remain the tallest twin towers in the world.  They lost the KL height crown in 2019 to the other subject of the video - the 106 story Exchange 106 tower in the new Tun Razak district, currently KL's tallest and the first 100+ story skyscraper in (non-China) Southeast Asia.  

As the center of a metropolitan area of over 7 million, Malaysia's Kuala Lumpur is very much dependent on public transit.  One of KL's public transit systems is the subject of this drone video by DroneEyePerspective: the KL Monorail, which opened in 2003.  With eleven stations (as of 2019), it currently carries around 60-65k passengers per day during the week.  The line has a total length of just over 8 km or around 5 mi.  connecting the KL Transit Hub in the south to Titiwangsa Station in the north.

The capital city of Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur, is divided into numerous districts. Its main hub is an area known as “the Golden Triangle” which comprises Bukit Bintang, the Kuala Lumpur City Center development (KLCC), and Chinatown. The city itself is known for its gleaming skyscrapers, historic colonial architecture, and various natural attractions.
