Annual Reels: Best of 2019

Contributor remomorales has had a very busy 2019 thus far. His 2019 international travel reel opens with an epic shot of the Italian cultural treasure of Venice. From there, you'll see a giant Buddha statue on the plains of Thailand, followed by a shot of downtown Bangkok. At around the :27 mark, there's a great view of the Tanah Lot temple off the coast of the Indonesian island of Bali.  Other highlights of this DVOW winning reel include some great timelapses from the Bali coast and a shot of Iceland's famed DC-3 plane wreck.  

Check out this 2019 showreel from Italy by pilot and cinematographer zippomaker. Opening with ground shots of ancient architecture around Rome, he’ll move on to aerial shots of Piazza del Duomo and its Leaning Tower of Pisa. He’ll then focus on a handful of ancient fortresses around Italy before giving us a stunning aerial view of the Pantheon. There are shots of weddings, drift cars, motocross riders, and Florence with its Duomo to round out this reel. This video was a DVOW finalist in December 2019.

David Aguilar (AirVuz profile: davidaguilar) is one of the top content creators in the AirVuz community.  His first upload to AirVuz, "Magic Iceland", won the People's Choice Award at the second annual Drone Video Awards, and he's won the Drone Video of the Week contest three times since then - an amazing record.  All good reasons to check out his 2019 highlight reel, which includes clips from his travels around the world.  Watch it for jaw-dropping shots from Norway, Iceland, Scotland, the Canary Islands, and more.  

Semberadventure is one of the top content creators on AirVuz, and his videos appear in numerous curated collections throughout the site.  In this piece, he put together some of his best footage from his travels around the world in 2019.  The video features footage from the Bahamas, the ruins of Guatemala in Central America, the Dolomite Mountains in northeastern Italy (part of the Southern Limestone Alps), the Patagonia region in the southern "Cone" of South America, and the Caribbean island of Dominica.  

Former Drone Video of the Week winner johannesbloechl put together this fabulous reel of his travels over the course of just-concluded 2019.  The video features footage from across eight European countries, including Italy, Malta, and Greece.   Highlights include the Venice's famous Rialto Bridge (1:00); Grecee's Rio-Antirrio Bridge, considered an engineering wonder (1:45); and Malta's original capital city of Mdina (2:40); and some great shots from the Austrian Alps.  This video was a DVOW pick in January, 2020.

Contributor maartenfilms is one of the top commercial drone piloting companies in Europe.  Their work spans a range of highly demanding settings, including some notoriously difficult action shots.  In this demo reel, they have put together some of their best aerial footage.  Shot in numerous locations around the world, the piece features some beautiful nature and urban shots as well as some very difficult dynamic shots involving moving vehicles, stunt BMX bikers, and even a manned helicopter! 

For a first upload to AirVuz, new contributor and professional drone piloting company K&P studio put together this fantastic reel showing highlights of their work over the course of 2019.  The reel features a mix of urban, landscape, real estate, commercial, action sequences, and "people" shots including some excellent wedding-related footage.  Most of the footage was captured in Hungary, including an epic shot of the Hungarian Parliament building on the Danube River at around the 1:20 mark.  

This outstanding 2019 highlight reel from chill_side was picked as a Drone Video of the Week Finalist in early 2020.  Most of the footage is from Russia, with a few shots from neighboring Finland and Georgia.  Some of the highlights include the Caucasus Mountains (around the :30 mark); St. Isaacs Cathedral in St. Petersburg (1:00), the Moscow City skyscraper district (1:15), the Ruskeala Train in the Karelia oblast, north of St. Petersburg (1:30);  the giant Soviet star atop the Moscow State University building (2:00); and more.  

Bachir_Photo_Phactory is one of the top content creators in the AirVuz community; he has been picked as a finalist for multiple awards and contests.  In this incredible piece, you'll get to see the highlights of his work over the course of 2019.  Most of the footage was captured in the United Arab Emirates, beinning with some epic shots of the Empty Quarter - the world's largest contiguous desert.  From there you'll see a series of "action" shots, including some great work with shadows, before heading to the skyscrapers of Dubai.  

2019 was clearly a banner year for media production company Chico Franleno.  As seen in this DVOW nominated reel, they captured both familiar travel destinations like Cinque Terre in Italy and the stunning Alps in both France and Switzerland, as well as quiet moments in remarkably picturesque spots like Ha Long Bay in Vietnam, and the Tegalalang Rice Terraces and Nusa Penida in Bali, Indonesia.  Flying in these scenic locations gave them access to incredible views and revealed the inspirational side to their global adventures.

Top AirVuz contributor Paride Musci put together a year's worth of highlights from droning Switzerland, considered by many to be the world's most beautiful country.  Shot with a DJI Mavic Pro 2, the video features footage from some of the top sights in this mountainous land, with epic shots of the country's towering peaks, giant glaciers, shimmering alpine lakes, massive arch dams, and world-famous ski resorts.  Some of the featured locations include the Matterhorn mountain and the Charles Kuonen Suspension Bridge.

Check out this marvelous highlight reel from the mighty Alps Mountains, compliments of AirVuz contributor and drone pilot _davidpeterson_.  The video features footage of the mountains around Kleinarl in the Austrian Alps; Seceda Mountain, part of the Dolomite chain in Italy's South Tyrol province; Absolut Park near Salzburg, Austria; Lake Braies (Pragser Wildsee) in South Tyrol; and the legendary Cortina d'Ampezzo ski resort and the nearby Lake Sorapis in Italy's Belluno province.

This 2019 aerial showreel by pilot Reines Vilnis has a little bit of everything. Highlights include a multitude of historic monuments in Europe, flights over bridges and intricate freeway systems, tracking shots alongside runners and race cars, and interior shots of luxury real estate. There are plenty of top down and hyperlapse shots of city skylines, tight views of stunt pilot and BMX bikers, plus incredible displays of fireworks exploding in the night sky. This one is a must watch. 

CamDrone is a top commercial drone piloting company in Poland.  Based out of the port city of Gdansk, Camdrone provides professional aerial videography services for customers across multiple sectors, including media/entertainment, real estate, and industrial.  This reel features clips from their work during 2019.  Watch it for some footage from across this large Central European country, ranging from the lakes and rivers of interior Poland to its Baltic Sea coast, medieval towns, modern skylines, auto racetracks, and more.  

Check out this excellent pro drone reel from Indonesia by new AirVuz contributor Ferdy Anggriya.  The video opens with a top-down shot over a mist-covered rainforest, followed by a beautiful sequence of the skyline of the massive city of Jakarta.   Footage of road and off-road vehicles follow, as well as some nice clips of an outdoor event, an offshore oil rig, and some legendary surfing action.    The video closes with an excellent shot of Jakarta's Gelora Bung Karno Stadium and the city's forest of skyscrapers.  

Eaglewood Pictures is leaving us impressed yet again with this compilation reel. The aerial shots are comprised of top-down looks at the changing leafs, wide shots of city skylines and the Northern Lights, fly-by shots of shorelines, snow-covered mountains, and forests, plus plenty of hyper-lapses. To add even more variety, the team includes closeup, ground shots of people and places. 

Contributor and DVOW winner Boyanoo is one of the top content creators on AirVuz, and also one of the most well-traveled.  In this stunning piece, he put together a fabulous aerial collage of his travels around the world in 2019. Highlights include footage from the tiny North Atlantic Faroe Islands, the Portuguese island of Madeira, the Mediterranean island nation of Malta, the fabled Greek Aegean Sea island of Mykonos, the storied Tuscany and Sardinia regions of Italy, the Philippines, and more.    

For a first upload to AirVuz, new contributor Jackanda brings us this excellent highlight reel from Italy. The video features beautiful aerial sequences from all over this beautiful and fascinating country, including the Dolomite Mountains in the northern part of the country, hilltop estates in Tuscany, the iconic lighthouse on Giglio Island, and the Amalfi Coast. The highlight though is at the :30 mark, where it looks like a bird went after his drone while flying over the Beseno fortress in the (northern) Trentino province.  

Check out this fabulous 2019 drone reel from the Czech Republic, compliments of new contributor and pilot giacobbeen.  The video features brilliant footage of iconic mist-covered landscapes in this Central European land, mostly from the heart of the country - the rolling hills, pristine forests, and shimmering lakes of central and southern Bohemia and Moravia.  You'll also see some nice shots of some well-known Czech castles, including Pernštejn Castle in South Moravia at the :45 mark.

Contributor and drone pilot andreistarovoitov had his first upload to AirVuz picked as a Drone Video of the Week Finalist.  In this very worthy follow-up, he put together some of his best clips from his travels throughout the year 2019.  The video features footage from six countries on three continents.  In less than two minutes, you'll catch epic footage ranging from the desert of the United Arab Emirates; Tenerife in the Canary Islands; the Mediterranean island of Cyprus; and scenes from Slovakia, Ukraine, and Belarus.  

Top AirVuz contributor and former Drone Video of the Week winner Seven Roads Media put together this excellent piece, which covers highlights of their work over the course of 2019.  It features footage from all over the world, starting with some epic shots of a mountain valley in Colorado, then transitioning to the rocky coastline of Iceland.  You'll also be treated to some great aerial views of Costa Rica, Fall foliage in Upstate New York, and an awesome closing shot of the Stanley Hotel back in Colorado.  

Contributor and DVOW finalist DroneHeroes is one of the top drone-focused accounts on Instagram. This outstanding reel features some of his highlights from his travels across 15 different countries.  Recognizable highlights include the Shard tower in London at the :11 mark and the famous windmills on the Greek island of Mykonos (:45). You'll also be treated to some stunning landscape and action shots from countries ranging from Australia, Thailand and Indonesia in Asia to France, Austria and the Netherlands in Europe. 

Here's an outstanding 2019 aerial showreel from Russia by top contributor and pilot sinaysky.  The video will take you over this vast country, from the northwestern forests to the Black Sea coastline. The reel's highlights include the "Devil's Arch" rock formation near Kara Dag Mountain on the Crimean Peninsula at the :35 mark; St. Petersburg's Kazan Cathedral (:45); footage of a paraglider on the Black Sea coast (1:00); the Fisht Olympic Stadium in Sochi (1:15); the Ruskeala Express steam train in Karelia (1:20); and more.

Check out this stunning drone reel from Portugal, compliments of new contributor Carlos Pinota.  The video opens with some nice shots of Lisbon and its two largest bridges - the red 25 de Abril Bridge and the newer (and longer) Vasco de Gama Bridge.  Then the action shifts to the great northern city of Porto, where you'll take in aerial views of the Douro River, the Dom Luís I Bridge, and the Clérigos Tower.  Other highlights include shots of Portugal's interior, more footage from Lisbon, and some great action shots.

Erciyes in Turkey's Central Anatolia region (:45), the ancient ruins of Side in Turkey's Antalya Province (:50), and the skyscrapers of the Turkish capital Ankara (1:05).  

Check out this fantastic 2019 drone reel compilation from top AirVuz contributor and pilot LP Productions.  The video features footage from two very different spots: the Northeast Asian republic of Mongolia and the island of Zanzibar off the coast of Tanzania in the Indian Ocean.  The reel is extremely well edited and alternates between the two landscapes: one, a tropical paradise once known as the Spice Island, and the other, a mysterious land of deserts, mountain plateaus, and the large city of Ulan Bataar.

For a second upload to AirVuz, contributor Banshchikov brings us this terrific 2019 highlight reel.  The video features footage from two countries on the Eurasian landmass: the Southeast European country of Bulgaria and the Central Asian republic of Kazakhstan.  Shot with the DJI Phantom 3 and 4 drones, the video features an impressive mix of shots over these two very different countries.  You'll see shots ranging from the Black Sea coast of Bulgaria and its western mountains to Kazakhstan's vast deserts and canyons.
