Owing to the world’s endless supply of breathtaking panoramas, the Nature & Landscape category is arguably both the easiest to load up with phenomenal drone footage, as well as the hardest to judge. Think about it...how does one compare the wide-open, stark yet stunning expanses of Iceland, with the inviting, and playful images of a tropical beach? Or a majestic mountain range (often replete with a fresh coat of snow, for effect) with the warm, unending, golden sand dunes folded into a desert? It’s a challenge taken on by this year’s nominees in Nature & Landscape, and we’re glad for it. The drone footage from these videos enable us all to revel in the beauty of our planet and experience views rarely seen before drones arrived on the scene. Contributor Kirillumrikhin traveled from Russia to the Union Glacier Camp in Antarctica, the only part of the seventh continent which is open to tourists. This magical video, which captures the beauty of this polar land, was chosen as a winner of the AirVuz Drone Video of the Week Contest in April, 2018. For a bird's eye view of the world's most mysterious and least-explored continent, this video is hard to beat! See the UAE's sharp, rugged mountains and endless, sandy deserts, its sprawling city of Dubai with its world-renowned architecture (as well as the world's tallest skyscraper), camels, deserted towns, and stunning sunrises. This video was AirVuz Drone Video of the Week, December Week 2 and is now a Drone Video Awards' Nature & Landscape nominee.
